Have a tall branding order? So did Sir Brew. A European-style ale imported from the Midwestern Riviera—aka Michigan—Sir Brew is handmade in recycled buckets. To complement this rigorous process I decided on a raw, homegrown-looking label. The elements include an illustration I created of “Sir,” a lumberjack color palette and copy personifying the brew’s satirical essence.
I know music and entertainment. Working with O’neal McKnight was unbelievably fun. He is not only the best dancer I’ve ever seen, he’s a great singer on SRC/Motown AND he’s an award-winning stylist (P. Diddy, Wyclef, Bow Wow,)! The idea for this album cover came from his counterpart DJ Cassidy. I shot and Art Directed. During one shoot I took enough photos for the entire year’s promotional material, editorial and, of course, for their albums and mix-tapes with help from makeup artist Anabelle LaGuardia.
Complicated project? You don’t scare me. This album design for Warner Brothers recording artist Avenged Sevenfold was one of the most painstaking layout projects I’ve ever worked on. When printing 4-color black on white it is imperative that the color formula is exactly the same for each character, image and illustration. I worked side-by-side with Art Director Rafa Alacantra for 27 straight hours, and it turned out pixel perfect.
No time? No problem. This project for Sony Music Group was created in 8 hours flat. Hand-drawn artwork was provided by Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd and I was asked to recreate it by hand in Adobe Illustrator. This limited edition packaging was created for the Monuments and Melodies album and reached #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart.
